Rafting on the Yoshino River
One of the best rivers in Japan for rafting, the Yoshino River, also known as "Shikoku Saburo" ("saburo" is the traditional name for the third son of a family), has many rapids and was a past venue for the World Rafting Championships.
Besides its challenging waters, the beauty of the river's dynamic valleys will relax your mind. You can also enjoy a rafting course that goes directly under the Sameura Dam together with your dog or children due to the gentle currents. Sameura Dam
If you come to Tosa Reihoku, you will definitely want to pay a visit. This giant dam protects Shikoku.
The Sameura Dam is a multipurpose dam that boasts the largest capacity in western Japan, and it serves as the core of water resource management on the Yoshino River system (operations began in April 1975).
Since then, it has controlled flooding, maintained the proper functioning of the watercourse, supplied water for new applications, and generated electricity, supporting the lives of many people and industries as “Shikoku's water barrel.”
The surface of the lake reflects beautiful scenery that changes with the seasons, and there is also bass fishing and water sports, etc.
The dam is a widely popular local feature, with there are events held in the surrounding area like the Yamabiko Carnival in August, and the Sameura no Sato Lakeside Marathon in November.

Tanada
In the Tosa Reihoku area, there are many terraced fields called tanada. They are rare in Japan, and people come from around the world to see the tanada.
From the tanada observation deck in Oishi, Motoyama, the home of a specially cultivated type of rice twice selected as the best rice in Japan called Tosa Tenku no Sato, you can take in a panoramic view of terraced fields that have remained nearly unchanged since the Yayoi period 2,300 years ago.

Climbing
Located along the Shikoku Mountains, the Tosa Reihoku area is home to many captivating mountains.
You can choose a climbing trail suitable for your own level.
Please make sure you wear hiking shoes and bring along the necessary equipment.
Elevation: 1,469.4m above sea level
The trail for this mountain is laid with wooden walkways, and it takes around 90 minutes to climb the mountain. You can enjoy akebono-tsutsuji (Rhododendron pentaphyllum) and shakunage (Rhododendron subg. Hymenanthes) flowers in full bloom here in spring. There is also a grove of dessicated white tree trunks known as "hakkotsurin" (literally, "white-bone forest") near the summit of the mountain.

The climbing trail for this mountain features many highlights, including Ryuo-no-taki, one of Japan's top 100 waterfalls and one of Tosa's 40 famous water bodies; Miei-do, a wooden hall with a close connection to Kobo Daishi; and the Okunoin (inner shrine) of Jofuku Temple. You can explore this area conveniently if you stay at Star Lodge Kajigamori.

This trail starts from the Inamura Dam and passes through an artificial forest, and it remains relatively gentle as it goes up the mountain. You will reach the summit after passing through a tunnel with shakunage (Rhododendron subg. Hymenanthes) flowers. Stunning views await you at the summit.

Even elementary school students can easily climb this trail, which has few ups and downs. The huge primeval beech forest you will encounter along the way is absolutely breathtaking. Many native alpine plants grow in the area, which you can enjoy through the four seasons.

This mountain allows you to experience the history of the Shirataki mining district. You can reach the start of the trail by car, and although the trail has some steep slopes at the start, you can make your way to the summit in no time. This trail is suitable for beginners as well.
